Charity Pals

Charity Pals was conceived when a friend asked me to participate in the Breast Cancer 3 Day walk. This walk raises money to support breast cancer research, education, screening and treatment through Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the National Philanthropic Trust Breast Cancer Fund. Thousands of people participate in this walk all over the country. I’m Melissa from Los Gatos. Click on my picture below to support me in my fundraising efforts for the Breast Cancer 3 Day in San Francisco.

There are so many charities that need recognition. I created Charity Pals to provide a place where charities can be recognized. People can show support for their favorite charity and inform others about their charity. Joining Charity Pals is free!! As a member of Charity Pals, we will post your picture, first name/city and a link to your favorite charity to show your support of that charity and make it easy for others to donate to that charity. Just email us your name, city, picture and a link to your favorite charity.

Each week a charity is “showcased” as a Charity of the Week. Nominate your charity for “Charity of the Week” and give your charity more visibility, hopefully increasing donations. Just email a brief description along with a link to their website to melissa@charitypals.com.

Thanks for making our world a better place by supporting charities.

America’s Promise Alliance

The America’s Promise Alliance is the nation’s largest multi-sector collaborative dedicated to the well-being of children and youth.

Building on the legacy of our founder, General Colin Powell, we are the leader in forging a strong and effective partnership alliance committed to seeing that children experience the fundamental resources they need to succeed – the Five Promises (caring adults, safe places, a healthy start, an effective education and opportunities to help others) – at home, in school and out in the community.

We are an alliance born of the recognition that when too many children are at risk, we are a nation at risk. With less than one-third of America’s young people receiving the essential resources they need for success, we’re witnessing today an increased risk of substance abuse, crime and school drop outs. We can’t afford this loss of human potential and reversing this tide must be a national priority.

Through increasing awareness, advocating for children and engaging in a few powerful initiatives, we use the strength of our partnership network to more effectively and strategically bring the power of the Five Promises to America’s children – enabling them to have the resources they need to lead happier, healthier and productive lives and build a stronger society.

Feed The Children

Feed The Children is a Christian, international, nonprofit relief organization with headquarters in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, that delivers food, medicine, clothing and other necessities to individuals, children and families who lack these essentials due to famine, war, poverty, or natural disaster.

During their 28-year history, Feed The Children has grown into one of the world's largest private organizations dedicated to helping hungry and hurting people. Last year, Feed The Children shipped 129 million pounds of food and other essentials to children and families in all 50 states and in 43 foreign countries, supplementing more than 730,000 meals a day worldwide. Since our founding in 1979, Feed The Children has reached out to help children and families in 118 countries around the globe.

The heart of Feed The Children's U.S. program is distributing food to families in need. To do this, we work closely with caring corporate partners that donate surplus food and other supplies, as well as with individual donors who help defray the cost of transporting the product donations.

Los Gatos High School New Millennium Foundation

Los Gatos High School New Millennium Foundation is a non-profit organization founded by parents, alumni, coaches, teachers, administrators, and community members for the purpose of raising funds to enhance the educational environment for all our students in every area of campus life.

In 2001 a group of parents, teachers, coaches, administrators, alumni and community members came together to form a non-profit foundation with the purpose of raising funds for Los Gatos High School. These funds have made it possible for the school to purchase equipment and make capital improvements that would not otherwise be available to the school. Through a Grant Review Committee, teachers can submit requests for specific classroom needs. Once a year these requests are reviewed, considered and funded according to our funding ability that year.

To date we have given back to the high school nearly $2 million and this is thanks to generous donations, corporate matching funds, sponsorships of our auction and the hard work and dedication of many volunteers.
